Surveillance

Surveillance systems offer a way to combine all Reolink products into a smart, and integrated Home Automation security solution. Cameras provide remote visual and audio access to the coverage area, and when used in combination with home security and motion detection, home surveillance systems offer peace of mind and 24/7 access to “what happened” with real-time alerts to see “what is happening now”. I chose Reolink because of the quality of cameras, for great value compared to other solutions, and for the ability to integrate with Home Assistant.

When integrated with Home Assistant, each camera can be used to create motion detection events, and provides a single interface to manage night vision, audio, and recording switches. I’ve chosen this separate NVR (rather than storing data on the NAS or Home Assistant Server), to alleviate processing demands on NAS compute, the Home Assistant Server compute, and network bottlenecks observed when combining NVR devices.
