As a long-time home automation enthusiast and hobbyist, I founded HASMaster to assist others in reaping the benefits of home automation without enduring the often difficult and time-consuming journey I have experienced since 2007. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my passion and learnings with you.

Privacy and local control over smart home capabilities are of utmost importance. I strive to never rely on third parties or send information to the cloud. This is increasingly possible with open source communities.
Interoperability
Third-Party independence and interoperability is paramount. I desire the flexibility to choose among the best home automation device and application vendors, and I want them to seamlessly work together.
Benefits
The benefits of Home Automation should outweigh the costs. Simply put, the time, effort, and cost of the capability should be rewarding and become indispensable. I want to be able to confidently say, “Without a doubt, I would do it again.”
The Score Model
To measure the progress and success of my smart home journey, I have developed the Score model. This model evaluates smart home capabilities across five key areas: Safety (S), Convenience (C), Organization (O), Resilience (R), and Entertainment (E). It serves as a benchmark for continuous improvement, ensuring that we never lose sight of why we embarked on this journey.
